On a rare rainy morning in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil we joined her and Guanabara Boards chief, Alex Batista for a training session. Amongst the towering concrete columns of Rio’s ‘MAM’ (Museum of Modern Art), the smoothly paved concrete and murky puddles of rain water Ana Maria brings her dynamic energy to an otherwise sparse, minimalist landscape. Moving with a sense of style and grace that compares to no other, Ana uses her board as a tool for raw expression and physical poetry.
